Building and tuning your rate book

Your rate book is your price list. Every quote is priced from it, so the same dent on the same panel always costs the same — unless someone chooses to price a panel by hand.

The five calibration questions#

Instead of filling in a table, you answer five prices you already know, excluding VAT:

From those, Dentz builds a Retail price curve by dent size, a Dealer flat rate and a Hail matrix. Re-calibrate on Settings → Pricing↗ runs the questions again at any time.

Your price lists#

Each list is a card showing its type (size-based, hail matrix or flat per dent), the key prices, and any difficulty extras such as Body line. A badge shows which customer type it's the default for.

• Make default for… — pick which list Retail, Dealer or Insurer customers get automatically. A customer with agreed rates can be put on a specific list when you add them.
• + Retail, + Dealer, + Hail — add another list from the starting template.

Versions#

Every change saves a new version, shown as v2, v3 and so on. A quote keeps the version it was priced on, so changing prices never changes a quote you've already sent.

Price reviews#

Put a percentage in Price review (for example 6 for an annual increase) and press Apply. New quotes use the new prices straight away; anything between −50% and +50% is allowed.

Time per dent#

Open Time per dent on a list to say how many minutes a dent of each size takes. It never changes a price. It's what the clock on a job is measured against, so you can see which jobs run over. Until you set it, Dentz uses its own starting figures and says so on the job.
